Enabling you to focus on building apps and delivering value for your customers is key to our mission at DigitalOcean. We’re committed to providing the resources you need to succeed, and we also recognize that the needs of each of our customers are different.

Over the last six months, we’ve been working to optimize how we notify users of incidents and maintenance. This has included changes to emails, templates, how we Tweet, and of course, our status page.

Today, we are thrilled to announce the launch of our redesigned status page!

As part of this journey, we worked to conduct user research to help inform our design decisions and understand how you, our customers, utilize our status page. The insights we gained allowed us to make some large changes, which we’ll discuss below.

DigitalOcean status page

What’s new?

The home page of https://status.digitalocean.com has been simplified and features DigitalOcean Services as the main component. You can now view dropdowns for any regional services (like Networking) and service dropdowns will be automatically expanded when there is an ongoing incident.

As part of this effort, we temporarily disabled user notifications, but are pleased to announce they’re back and more customizable than ever! Users can subscribe to updates via Email, SMS, Slack, Twitter, and Atom/RSS Feed. Users will be able to opt-in to notifications for any combination of regions and services.

Instead of displaying the most recent incident history on the home page, we’re focusing on showing the current status of our services. Users will be able to see history by navigating to the history page, linked at the bottom left of the home page.

In addition to the above, there have been multiple updates made to the icons, layout, and text formatting used throughout our status page. We’ve focused these changes around improving the accessibility and compatibility of the page with screenreaders and other tools, as well as mobile devices.

What’s staying the same?

On the home page, users will still see the current update for any scheduled/ongoing maintenance and any ongoing incidents, with a link to the dedicated update page for that maintenance/incident.

Our linked Twitter account, dostatus, will remain the same and our team will continue to respond to user queries there.

On the history page, users can still filter the feed to easily find past incidents or maintenance by service and region.

Get Started

We invite you to head over to https://status.digitalocean.com/ and take a look for yourself, as well as re-establish any desired notifications.

Any feedback is welcome and we’ve set up a dedicated page to submit feedback here: https://ideas.digitalocean.com/interfaces/p/status-page-redesign-may-2023

On behalf of the entire DigitalOcean team, thank you for your patience while we made these updates! We hope they serve you and your business even better and look forward to providing our users with timely and transparent updates via our new status page.
